ITALY LEADS THE WAY

Gamingclub.com says that in the booming European online poker market, Italy has come out as the biggest online poker player. The site has reported that Italy’s online poker sector has leapfrogged all other EU countries for the first time in 2010. Figures published by H2 Capital showed that until 2009 UK was the leader in European online poker market. But Italy’s market has grown quite considerably and in 2010, it has surpassed UK figures.

It is to be noted that Italy was one of the first European countries to officially legalize and regulate online poker. Initially, Italians were permitted to play poker tournament online, but that changed in July 2011 when laws were changed to allow Italians to play real cash poker online. The report of H2 capital shows great year-on-year growth in the Italian poker market into 2014.

Figures from the Norwegian Gambling Commission also confirm that online poker is also the chief form of online casino gaming in Norway which accounts for 28% of online casino gaming activity among players. While 27% of the players preferred sportsbook, 7% preferred online casino games. The American market too benefits substantially from online poker as it provided 19% of revenues of US online casino gaming in 2010.

But when comes down to table games, then baccarat has emerged as the frontrunner. It overtook blackjack in 2009 and became the top game in Nevada for the first time. However, in contrast to the US market, the rising Asian casino market shows that Asian players prefer to play table games as against slots.

DEEB WINS AGAIN

This week at the Bicycle Casino, Freddy Deeb grabs the World Series of Poker Circuit event, by adding another major achievement to the pro’s resume.

The WSOP Circuit championship was the very first held at one of the most prominent poker rooms in the US, the Bicycle Casino. The 3-day championship drew over 549 players and each of them set up $ 1500 to play in the championship.
Actually, Deeb began much later compared to most of the field. Deeb did not prefer to put himself in either Day 1A or Day 1B. Freddy, instead, showed at the very last minute, as registration kept open till the starting of Day 2 i.e. on Wednesday.
His much late entry, in the championship, appears at a cost, because as the blinds had already mounted considerably, Deeb started the championship with a good deal of only about twenty big blinds. But Freddy readily constructed up a huge stack, and prepared his path in the final day of play near the top of the score-board.

In order to eventually win the championship, he would have to beat Alex Masek in the heads-up play. Freddy came in the showdown with a 3 – 1 chip lead and prevailed the game. Masek, in fact, dealt to double up two times late in the game, but by that point was so little piled that it barely counted. On a try to win a third direct all in encounter, one which would have lawfully got him back into the game, Alex Masek’s AK went up light against Freddy’s pocket queens. Alex won $ 106185 for the second position.

Freddy grabbed $ 171810 for 1st position, but the award might have been more crucial compared to the money. Though Freddy shatched two WSOP bracelets in his poker playing career and a World Poker Tour championship.
